Material from the auxiliary hopper is conveyed via a horizontal screw, a design chosen to minimize dust leakage; the horizontal screw features a jacketed structure that allows airflow—generated as material drops into the bag—to recirculate through the jacket, thereby preventing material from escaping into the air through the gap in the bag clamp as the material falls under gravity. A dust extraction port is installed on the exterior of the bag clamp to collect and filter any minor dust escaping from the gap between the bag opening and the clamp. A shut-off gate is installed at the discharge outlet of the vertical chute; this gate closes automatically after weighing is complete to prevent material leakage from affecting weighing accuracy.
